Holter monitor reading and fast heart rate….?
Question by
I have been having some issues where my heart starts beating real fast for no reason. I had a stress echo, tilt table test, ekg, and a holter monitor for 24 hrs. All test came back good. Only the holter monitor i wore showed the tachycardia as high as 166 and that was at sleep. I do get that flutter in my chest where it feels like my heart adds in extra beats…sometimes feel it in my throat. Anyway the doctors didnt really tell me much. So im just curious does anyone else have this happen to them?? I guess Im just still scared even though all my test were ok.

Most ectopic heartbeats do not require treatment. The condition is treated if your symptoms are severe or if the extra beats occur very frequently.
An underlying cause, if discovered, may also require treatment.

I’m so happy the watch has the monitor built in and there isn’t a chest strap to deal with. I have never had good luck with those and wanted a simple design watch for all around wear and exercise and this one fit the bill. The watch has one touch design; simple finger placement on the sensor. The bpm reads larger than the rest of print and is easily read Cheap cost! |
Am I having mini heart attacks? Anyone have these symptoms?
Question by
Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in May of this year. Symptoms were blacking out and having limbic jerks (seizure activity). I think I may have been misdiagnosed. I’m thinking that my blackouts may actually be from a heart condition. At least 1-2x a week, I will be doing something (reading, surfing the internet, watching tv) and will all of a sudden get a very sharp pain in the upper center-left side of my chest. The only way I can explain it is if someone took the end of a pool stick and jammed it right into you really quickly. That pain goes away after a few seconds (2-3), but then it is immediately followed by this weird wavey/watery/palpitation feeling in my chest (not painful). Then I feel like I can’t get a deep enough breath, my head starts to tingle and I get this almost euphoric feeling and then I’ll black out. The Neurologist I saw confirmed that my EEG (brain test) was abnormal (left temporal lobe lesion) and said all my symptoms were that of Epilepsy. But I’m starting to think that maybe I’m just blacking out and all of this stuff is happening because of my heart and maybe lack of oxygen to my brain??? My EKG was abnormal and the hospital put me on heart meds and a heart monitor for 2.5 days, but nothing was prescribed further and I was only told to take seizure medication. Oh and I should also add that my nurse would haul ass into my room whenever I would get up from my bed to go to the bathroom because my heart rate would go through the roof to the point that she thought I was having a seizure. This pain actually happened about 2 minutes ago but I did not black out. I even told the doctors my history of passing out ever since I can remember but they didn’t seem to think it is connected. I don’t have any health insurance ( no one will cover me) and I don’t know what to do. My dad died of a heart attack at 41 and there’s heart disease on both sides of my family. No family history of Epilepsy. Sorry for the long post. Just don’t know what to do. I am considering going to the ER and telling them I have chest pain again but my last bill from them was 19K. I’m only 27 but feel like I’m 90. Thank you for listening. ![]()
THANK YOU REDANGEL! I’D GIVE YOU A THUMBS UP BUT IT SAYS I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH POINTS! I’M GOING TO READ EVERYTHING YOU JUST POSTED. THANK YOU SO MUCH! XOXOXO

All epileptics have been found to be low in magnesium in clinical trials. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency are many but include seizures, chest pain, heart palpitations, heart rhythm problems, fainting/blacking out, heart disease, and a severe magnesium deficiency can cause a heart attack due to affected heart rhythm.
Magnesium deficiency is one of the causes of inflammation. Inflammation and oxidation cause heart disease NOT cholesterol. Inflammation markers that are a must to test – C Reactive Protein (CRP) (aim for under 1mg/l) and homocysteine levels (aim for 6.3umol/l). 80% who suffer a heart attack have normal cholesterol levels.
An article about magnesium and epilespy….
“Wayne was only four years old, but he had been suffering epileptic seizures for 3 1/2 years. Though the seizures were particularly severe during stress periods, he was never completely free of them.
Anticonvulsant drugs were used, but none was successful. The boy’s parents were resigned to the probability that he would have a life plagued with severe epilepsy.
At that time Dr. Lewis B. Barnett, head of the Hereford Clinic and Deaf Smith Research Foundation in Hereford, Texas, began a series of experiments. The boy became a subject. He was given, in addition to a normal diet, 450 mg. of magnesium gluconate and a thyroid extract. Within two weeks all signs of epilepsy vanished, and within the past three years there have been no signs of the illness.”

How dangerous is it being above maximum heart rate during a workout?
Question by Enyko
Just started a serious workout (P90X) and am using a heart rate monitor for the first time. I’m 33 years old in somewhat good shape. My MHR should apparently be around ፠ BPM. Well I’m almost always in the 170-180 range when doing these exercises. Yesterday I got to 190 and even 200. Should I slow down?
I’m of course completely tired and breathing heavy…etc. But no chest pains and I know when my body needs to rest so I do. But I guess I’m wondering if I should not be working out above my MHR? I like to push myself to the limits but is this dangerous?

I work out every day and always push myself. My heart rate goes above my maximum quite often. I have been working out like this for nearly 2 years and it hasnt done me any harm, just made me fitter and stonger.

is there something wrong with my heart, or is it just panic attacks?
Question by proudmommy_of2@ymail.com
I have actually had this problem for as long as I can remember.. I remember when I was still in school.. probably jr. high.. my heart would palpitate sometimes.. just for a few seconds.. and then quit.. and that would only happen every so often.. maybe a couple times a month or even less.. they did an ekg on me and blood work and said everything was normal and that I was just having panic attacks.. as the years went on.. I can remember being in class during high school and my heart would start racing for no apparent reason.. and then after a few seconds it would quit.. then I started being woke up by it.. It would like my whole body would jerk and I would wake up to find my heart racing and I would be out of breath.. and everytime I would get close to falling asleep it would happen again.. and just recently.. this past march things started getting really freaky.. One night in march I was just sitting on my bed playin a game and all the sudden I just didn’t feel right.. I couldnt breath and my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest.. only this time it didn’t stop.. I felt like I was going to pass out and my fiance caught me as I began to fall off the bed. Things continued all night that night.. and the palpitations were lasting for 10-20 minutes at a time.. I got really nauseated.. light headed.. so dehydrated I was chewing on my toungue.. I didnt have even a little bit of saliva in my mouth.. I was too afraid to go to the hospital that night so I just paced back and forth.. kept going outside for fresh air.. and even made my fiance take me for a drive.. finally things calmed down enough to where I could get a little rest.. well the next day i started feeling somewhat better.. but towards the end of the day.. it started again.. my heart was racing.. and I couldnt breath.. we went to the er.. they did and ekg and said it looked normal.. but they kept me hooked up on it.. while i was hooked up I had another attack.. my heart started racing and reach 160 or more.. i felt like i was going to pass out.. they told me to bare down as if having a bowel movement and i did and after a few minutes my heart rate slowly started going back down but it only stabelized in the Ⱥs.. they ended up having to give me 3 doses of metoprolol through my iv to get my heart rate back in theೆs where they wanted it.. then they prescribed me metoprolol and an anxiety medication.. they didnt seem to help a whole lot.. they took away the palpitations.. but from that point on I have had a constant pressure in my chest.. and I found out recently that i am pregnant so they took me off the medications… well now it’s starting back up… and tonight.. i was laying in bed.. and it was almost like my heart jerked.. I felt it beat really hard and fast for a second.. My whole body jerked.. and then I felt like a burning and pressure sensation which is still there to this moment and thats been over an hour ago.. also.. i noticed early when I got out of the shower.. I could feel my heart beating really hard it almost felt like it was twitching and I looked down and my left breast I could actually see what it looked to me like it was twitching along with my heart.. I dont know what’s going on.. It’s really starting to worry me.. the doctors don’t take me seriously.. I have wore a 24 hr heart monitor.. had cat scans.. x rays.. and tons of blood work. and they still come up with nothing.. last month however.. they did think they found a blood clot in my lung on the xray so they started me on heparin and 2 hours later did a lung scan to find no blood clot there.. so they said it was a mistake.. but i wonder if it was just a small one and the heparin got rid of it by the time they did the other scan.. could this all be related? Or am I crazy.. I cant see it being all just panic attacks when most of the time im calm.. just watching tv when it happens.. or laying in bed.. I have an apt. with my family doctor in a couple weeks but I just want to know if anyone has had similar symptoms.. or may know what it could be.. I would really appreciate any advice or information.. Thanks.

Hay love – it probably could be panic attacks.
With you waking up at night with them, I imagine that is probably sleep apnea, I have the same thing.
You wake up all of a sudden breathing really fast, feeling extremely sick and all you want to do is drink a glass of water and your scared to fall back alseep. I get that because I ahve sleep apnea – you possibly have the same thing.
I also used to get extremely bad heart palpitations which gave me terrible anxiety – which it sounds like you have. I would think I was having a heart attack when I wasnt. I eventually when to a Chiropractor, and he noticed one my nerves wasnt funtioning properly which was causing me bad heart palpitations – after seeing the chiro I rarely get palpitations now, and therefore I rarely get panic attacks. Maybe you should give that a try?
Also, have you ever noticed that during the day perhaps you sort of ‘forget’ to breath? Sort of like sleep apnea, but when you are awake? Maybe keep an eye out for that too.
But love, I would definitely recommend a good Chiropractor…they have done wonders for me!!!
